As a team, we have created a board game for children aged 7 to 12 years old. The board game utilises concepts from Dr. William Glasser’s Choice Theory, which aims to help children to become more aware of their own behaviours and the decisions they make, as well as to assist them with self-management skills. The board game is a platform for children to build positive relationships with their friends and family through learning from the game and its concepts.
With the knowledge we have on William Glasser’s Choice Theory, the children will be guided in having effective control over their behaviours. The board game introduces them to positive and negative behaviours that they may have exhibited in the past and may exhibit in the future. The aim is to teach them how to effectively manage their behaviours and assist them in understanding how these behaviours may potentially affect their relationships both in the present and future if it said behaviours are not addressed. Through this, it helps children to understand how making the right choices can result in a more positive output in their daily lives.
The board game also aims to help these children with their self-awareness and self-management skills with instances where the children must make decisions based on a certain scenarios given to them. Through these scenarios, the children will learn how to weigh the differences and make the right choice, which will strengthen their self-management skills.
Certificates will also be given to children as an incentive at the end of the game. To view or download the certificate, click here.
