Situational Cards
The situational cards are linked to the 5 basic needs of the Choice Theory. According to William Glasser, the basic needs refer to general motivation for all human behaviours. The 5 basic needs are – love and belonging, survival, power, freedom, and fun.
These cards consist of either open-ended or close-ended questions. We designed the open-ended questions in a way such that children will be able to have a discussion with their facilitator and other players, hence allowing them to expand their knowledge and understanding. For the close-ended question, we designed it in a way such that the children are allowed to weigh their options, allowing them to identify the positive and negative consequences.
We also took the children’s background into consideration when coming up with the questions, as we wanted the children to be able to relate to the questions. The questions will be able to help the children in the future when they face a similar situation.
Aside from situational cards, our board game also consists of role-plays and other interesting questions! You may refer to our pdf file here.
